When Country Meets City - The Two Shall Become One

Country? City? How do I choose...?

Don’t worry - You don't have to!

So many people are seeking out venues with copious amounts of space and freedom to make it their own. However, some feel like you lose elegance or class. But not us! We think you can have both country and city! For example, Rolling Ridge is located an hour from the Twin Cities in Saint Joseph Minnesota, giving it the perfect distance between country and city. It provides 10 different ceremony spaces with a landscape that is second to none.

Ceremony site options

With multiple ceremony options, it allows for creativity to flow. So, if you choose a barn venue, it can easily be dressed up to feel like a fancy space in the city. Each place offering freedom to make it unique and special to you. Dress it up like a full western appeal, or keep it neutral toned for a more classy vibe.

This couple chose the stone backdrop for a more chic approach, where we decorated the arch with taupe draping and greenery arrangements to really make it POP!

Barns are great for receptions, but what if I still want that classy impression to last throughout the evening?

Draping. Draping can transform any space into the upscale, high class, most elegant room that you have always wanted. This couple chose to drape the barn poles and do a dramatic backdrop behind the head table for a flawless finish!

Still not convinced?

Think about your table decorations. Centerpieces can always add so much style and passion to complete any desired look. Keeping this wedding venue in mind, the couple added cool, natural tones in their decor to enhance the beauty of the barn that already existed.

Wedding Planning

Overlooked details

There are so many details to remember and plan and discuss about your wedding day. So, what are those little details that often get overlooked? Well, you have come to the right place! We have created a list of things just for you that we find are the most overlooked.

Backup plan

Do you have one? It’s not only rain you have to worry about, heat and wind can also play a big factor in outdoor weddings. Backup plans are a must! BUT! It’s usually not this detail that gets overlooked... It’s what comes next. Have you communicated this backup plan to your vendors and helpers? If not, make sure they know where things are to be placed if anything changes. Communication to your vendors is one of the biggest overlooked detail in wedding planning.

Food

Most people plan the food for dinner, but forget about breakfast and lunch! Plan to bring plenty of food AND WATER for you and your wedding party. Tip: Have water bottles easily accessible because more people are likely to grab them and stay hydrated!

Accessories/Wedding dress

Don’t let time get away from you during your engagement season. Alterations typically need to be scheduled two months prior to your wedding day. During this time you can look for the perfect accessories so that you can try everything on once your dress has been altered to make sure it is everything you had envisioned.

Who’s your go-to?

Do you have a wedding planner? A venue coordinator? A go-to? Questions always come up and you will not want to be bothered while you are getting ready and preparing for your special day. It is important to have someone in charge of questions and concerns so you don’t have to. It is your wedding day, relax and let someone else make the decisions for you!

Numbers

People are hard to plan on. You just never know if Aunt Barb or Uncle Larry are going to show up unexpected. Plan on an extra 10-20 chairs at your ceremony. Your guests will most likely leave seats open in between, which can then cause issues for latecomers. If you have chair decor, make sure you account for those extra chairs as well. No one likes mismatching or uncovered chairs in photos. Tip: Factor yourself and your vendors into your guest count when ordering chairs and food.

The Getaway Car

Hustle and Bustle. That is what your wedding day consists of (along with laughter, joy, love, and happiness of course). Wedding plans are usually made up until the event begins, but have you thought about when the event is over? Do you have a way for you and your spouse to get to your hotel? Does your wedding party have a ride from the venue to the hotel?

Lighting

The evening will come and you will want the space to match your mood. Depending on your venue, make sure that you can dim the lights or add supplement lighting like twinkle lights or cafe lights to keep the wedding mood romantic all night long.

Cleanup, Cleanup

Communicate with your vendors and your go-to about the cleanup process. Are you responsible for returning rented items? Do you have someone assigned for cleanup duty? It is crucial that items are counted and taken care of properly to avoid any damaged/missing item fees. No one likes the after-wedding charges, so assign someone to take on this job, and you will have nothing to worry about. Other things that might get overlooked include the collecting of gifts, personal items, your dress and or bouquet.

Our Go-To, Must Have, number one, All Time Favorites

Everyone has their own personal favorites, so after years of setting up many different weddings and events, we have come up with our favorites and we want to share them with you!

Arches: Nothing beats classic white curtains pulled back on a ceremony arch. If you want a little more character or color, we suggest adding a chandelier or some floral arrangements! There are so many options that go along with curtains that we have decided it is our number one choice when it comes to decorating your arch!

Draping: Whether it be in a tent, a hotel space, an outdoor pavilion or a magical event center; we love zig-zagging draping for the most elegant of looks!

Linens: Our go-to linen would have to be anything with color, texture, or shine. That's why we are in love with the sequin linens. When the light hits them in just the right way, Oh Man! It's GORGEOUS!

Lighting: You can never go wrong with cafe lights. With endless ways to drape, hang and organize, these are a must have at any venue!

Centerpieces: It's no secret that we love decor, but our all time favorites are anything paired with candles. They are so universal, romantic and can be used in a multitude of ways.

Styled Shoot

Paper Wedding Dress

Yes, you read that right. This wedding dress was made out of paper, and boy was it incredible.

Let’s just take a minute to pick our jaw up off the floor and admire this work of art. Incredible... Just incredible.

Burgundy and White Paper Wedding dress

After endless hours of dreaming, brainstorming and designing, this creation came to life. It was handcrafted to perfection with each piece accounted for and hand placed to create such a masterpiece.

This styled shoot began with the unimaginable paper wedding dress and soon transformed into a chic and unique shoot, blooming rich with color.

Knowing we had to match the talent of the incredible paper dress, we researched and designed a backdrop that would not disappoint. Choosing to incorporate the colors of the dress in the backdrop we criss-crossed the burgundy and gave it space to illuminate the depth and feel.

There were so many incredible vendors involved in this project, including Sadie’s Couture Floral. Their ginormous fern arrangements provided the texture, volume, and color that this shoot needed!
